Biggest global cycling event protecting against hearing loss
The biggest global multi-day cycling race is putting safety first at its 2016 race by selecting to use SonoLab Instant Fit Custom Moulded Earplugs to protect the hearing of its staff at the event commencing 30th June 2016 in Mont Saint-Michel.
Organisers of the race take the safety of the staff seriously, and have always made sure hearing protection is provided, yet have recently made the switch to SonoLab Instant Fit Custom Moulded Earplugs due to clear benefits. Previously having used foam earplugs, the custom-moulded option gives a far superior protection for the wearer which can be tested and proven using attenuation systems.
Last year at the event, SonoLab helped test various spaces on site, and found the loudest areas were where music was playing for big crowds, and near promotional vans. Here, staff work closely in noisy environments so it is very important that their hearing is protected but that they can also communicate well without impairment.
A safety consultant at the race, commented “In the past, we have looked at using custom-moulded earplugs, but the timeframe to have them fitted and produced was about three weeks, and the event would have been over.
“The other solutions also needed a huge amount of equipment to come across to Mont Saint-Michel, which is not great. With SonoLab, there is virtually no more equipment than the earplugs themselves, so transportation was not a worry.”
SonoLab Instant Fit Custom Moulded Earplugs are fitted on site in just six minutes. The team at SonoLab will train members of the safety team at the race, so they can fit them themselves in the days leading up to the event.
